Would you like to take a quiz to explore your level of self esteem? It might give you some useful hints to start building stronger self esteem.

Please keep in mind that our quizzes are meant for your personal use only. They indicate general trends and are not to be taken as scientifically validated tests. They are meant to stimulate you to think about yourself, not to give you definitive answers. You may therefore disagree with your results as easily as agree with them, but we hope you find your results to be interesting food for thought.

Self Esteem

This quiz looks at 7 self-belief categories that could have an impact on your self esteem, bearing in mind that low scores in some categories might not affect your particular self-esteem all that much. Also, there may be other self-belief categories not covered in this quiz that could have a greater impact on your self esteem. This quiz merely provides a general trend. In doing this quiz, you accept these limitations.

Self-Belief Categories

  1. Competence - how confident you feel in your ability to achieve your goals.
  2. Self-acceptance - how strongly you like and accept yourself as you are.
  3. Receptivity to Feedback - how comfortable you are when criticized.
  4. Guilt - how guilty you feel for saying "no" or letting someone down.
  5. Optimism - how much you look on the bright side.
  6. Self-talk - whether you say mainly positive or negative things to yourself.
  7. Self-sufficiency - how much you need the approval of others.

The quiz has a maximum score of 28. When you complete it you will get a total score out of 28 plus a score for each of the 7 self-belief categories out of 4. If your total score is over 20, you are likely to have reasonably healthy self esteem. If your score is much lower, examine which particular self-belief categories you are lower in and think about what that means for your self esteem. The quiz is done anonymously so no one will know your scores but you (including us). Naturally, the more honest you are with yourself in answering the questions, the more useful the results should be.
